Fairhand Visiting Physiotherapists come to your home, care home or residential home to provide expert assessment, treatment and management of your problem in your own environment. We do not have a clinic and mostly help elderly people with arthritic, neurological or functional problems. We do not do standard musculoskeletal care in younger people, such as back pain or sports injuries.
We serve the whole of the Croydon area, including Purley, Coulsdon, Caterham, Warlingham and Oxted, and as far as Sutton, Reigate and Redhill.
OUR SERVICES
- Falls Prevention. Increasing unsteadiness as we get older, or after an accident or stay in hospital, can lead to an increased risk of falls. Falls are very important and can have severe consequences. We can thoroughly assess your balance, strength, coordination and confidence and work with you to improve your stability and prevent a fall or a repeat fall.
- Chest Conditions. We can help with shortness of breath, coughing, phlegm and loss of endurance due to a chest condition such as asthma or chronic obstructive airways disease.
- Neurological Conditions. Our staff are specialised in the assessment and management of neurological conditions in older people, such as strokes, transient ischaemic attacks (TIAs) and Parkinson's disease. We don't see younger people with multiple sclerosis (MS).
- Osteoporosis. We can help you keep your bones strong, improve your strength and mobility and keep your posture good.
- Arthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most common disabling condition in older people and our staff can assess your joints for pain, weakness and functional ability, giving you advice and exercise programmes to keep you normally active.
- Post-operative Rehabilitation. If you've had a hip replacement, knee replacement or a different operation you can benefit from our expertise in getting the best from your joint replacement or recovering from the operation and the stay in hospital.
- Try For Home. This assessment is to see if you are fit to return to your own home after a period in a care home following hospital admission. We can help prevent you from being re-admitted and also to return to your own home if that is realistic.
- Mobility Aids and Aids to Daily Living. We can help you navigate the confusing amount of aids on the market and help you choose the best mobility, continence or other products to suit your situation.
All our physiotherapists are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
